Lawson Health Research Institute (Lawson) is one of Canada’s top ten health research institutes. Our scientists conduct research that advances scientific knowledge with the goal of improving health and the delivery of care for patients. Lawson does this as the research institute of London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) and St. Joseph’s Health Care London (St. Joseph’s), working in partnership with Western University.
The fast pace of scientific discovery makes medical research an exciting place to be. For more than thirty years, Lawson Health Research Institute has been driving innovation and helping to transform health care. Taking a “bench to bedside” approach to medical research, researchers focus their efforts on the development of new knowledge that can be applied directly to patient care.
At Lawson Health Research Institute patients are currently only being treated for whole-gland prostate ablation (leaving appropriate safety margins to preserve important structures in the prostate with the goal of minimizing side effects), in a very individual manner as a part of the CAPTAIN Randomized Control Trial.
