Your TULSA Journey

Finding the right prostate procedure for you is important, but the processes can be overwhelming. Below is a journey map to help you understand how the TULSA Procedure can be a potential option for you, and how that may fit into your journey.

  • UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS

Your physician will explain a variety of procedure options, which may include: active surveillance, radiation therapy, and prostatectomy (surgical removal of the prostate). Some of these approaches may have negative side effects which may include:

If you are worried about these side effects, there is a newer and better option known as the TULSA Procedure.

The TULSA Procedure is radiation-free, incision-free, and is performed in one single session. As a result, it is less likely to cause the same side effects as other options and can provide you or your loved one with a faster recovery and a better quality of life.

  • CONTACT A TULSA EXPERT

To find out if you are a good candidate for the TULSA Procedure, contact a TULSA expert and provide them with information related to your diagnosis. This could include your PSA score, a biopsy report, a digital rectal exam (DRE), and your MRI information. All TULSA experts are medical doctors who are specially trained in the TULSA Procedure.

  • MEET YOUR TULSA EXPERT

Your TULSA expert will then review your medical history and consult you on the benefits and risks of undergoing the procedure. If you are a good candidate for the procedure, your TULSA expert will prioritize your expectations for functional outcomes, and work with you to design a customized plan. Once finalized, you may book an appointment at that TULSA Center.

  • TULSA PROCEDURE DAY

On your TULSA Procedure day, a nurse will welcome you and help prepare you for your procedure. You will then see your treating physician and meet your anesthesiologist.

  • TULSA PROCEDURE DAY: PREPARATION

Your anesthesiologist will ensure you are comfortable before sedation. After sedation, you will be moved to an MRI room where the devices will be placed inside you.

  • TULSA PROCEDURE DAY: DELIVERY

Working alongside an experienced clinical team, your physician will define and deliver your customized procedure plan that you helped design.

The procedure will be finished in 2-4 hours.

Your physician will then review MRI images confirming your successful procedure!

  • AFTER TULSA PROCEDURE

Once your TULSA Procedure is complete, you will be monitored during a brief recovery period. You will typically be able to leave the same day and resume your daily activities.
