The number of prostate cancer patients continues to rise annually, with 1 in 9 men now expected to be diagnosed in their lifetime. Fortunately, when detected early and localized within the prostate, it is a condition that is rarely life-threatening.
Traditionally, treatment options for localized prostate cancer have included radical prostatectomy, radiation therapy, and hormone therapy. However, these treatments often present significant challenges to daily life due to complications such as urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, and other side effects.
We are pleased to introduce MRI-guided Transurethral Ultrasound Ablation (TULSA) at our hospital—a cutting-edge, minimally invasive treatment. Without any abdominal incisions, this procedure uses MRI surveillance to precisely control the temperature and treatment area, using ultrasound to thermally ablate the cancer. Compared to conventional methods, TULSA offers comparable effectiveness while significantly reducing the risk of complications, allowing patients to return to their normal lives shortly after treatment.
“I believe TULSA should be one of the first options considered upon a prostate cancer diagnosis. If you have been diagnosed, I encourage you to consider this advanced treatment.” – Dr. Koga
